Biography

Between two cultures, Belgian-Moroccan, Anwar, a young author-composer of Brussels with the nomadic spirit was built on the roads in search of encounters and discoveries. An initiatory, artistic and humanist quest inspiring and inspired pushes one whose first name means “Enlightenment” to travel and observe some, to draw inspiration from others and to transcribe the emotions in his songs. Discovered by the French artist Zaz, he followed her tour as support act but also with Jain, Yuri Buenaventura, Boulevard des airs and many other artists in all big Parisian venues such as Olympia, Zénith until he finally released his first album “Beautiful Sunrise” at the prestigious American label “Columbia Records” (Sony Music France) in March 2016. It’s when talking about his musical influences, that we understand better where this openness comes from and why this polyglot decided to sing in English. “I love Motown, James Brown’s Soul Funk and Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat, but I also like Jack Johnson and Charlie Winston, Bob Marley, Moby …” But the music that inspires the most this self-educated musician is the Afro redundant music. African slaves music Gnawa that gave a lot to the blues flow. All this music resonate in his music like a cheers, bursts of laughter and tears. Currently, Anwar is working on his second album planned for spring 2018.
