French Quarter Jazz Festival in New York #3
Following a recent expansion to a three night three stage format, The French Quarter Jazz Festival returns to New York from January 16 – 19, 2016 for its 3rd edition. Set alongside three major international gatherings of musicians and music industry professionals (APAP, Winter Jazz Festival and GlobalFEST), French Quarter was created by Paris Jazz Club with support from Institut Français, SACEM and Bureau Export to celebrate the rich creativity of the new French jazz scene.
In 2016, over 40 musicians will participate in French Quarter’s four showcases, starting January 16th at The Django, a sleek new venue at the Roxy Hotel in Tribeca, where Sylvain Rifflet, accordionist Émile Parisien Quartet, Thiefs & Guests, Samy Daussat, and the Véronique Hermann Sambin Quintet will perform.
As an official networking and kick-off cocktail, music pros will gather on the night of January 17th at Drom, where celebrated trumpetist and film composer Ibrahim Maalouf will perform.
French Quarter reconvenes once again at the intimate Smalls Jazz Club in Greenwich Village on January 18th for performance from the Leila Olivesi Quintet, Lou Tavano, Laurent Coulondre and Géraldine Laurent. Finally, two major talents from the French scene, pianist Eric Legnini and Hugh Coltman, who will perform “Shadows – Songs of Nat King Cole”.
